My Approach
Courage, Connection and Compassion are three components Brene Brown identifies as the basis for "Wholehearted Living". I believe they are also key ingredients in therapy. The building of a compassionate connection is essential to instill the courage to work on the challenges of life that we all face. In my work, I integrate a variety of evidenced-informed psychological treatment approaches tailored to meet the individual needs of each client, drawing drawing heavily from cognitive behavioral (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), as well as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) informed skills and strategies to create a structured understanding and subsequent plan for responding to these challenges more effectively. That being said, I believe for therapy to be truly effective, a relationship between therapist and client must be grounded in respect, support, and collaboration to ensure that outcomes are lasting and aligned with your values. Additionally, recognizing and tapping into the personal strengths and competencies you already possess is a large part of this process.
